Occupy Movement.. My thoughts…

It’s been a while since I have used Tumblr to actually blog my thoughts, but I want to for this.

So the “Occupy” movement/protest is everywhere.  I turn on the news, Occupy Baltimore is all over it.  I watch my Youtube subscriptions and was Phill’d in by good old Defranco.  I drive down Light Street and see all of the tents.  I go to DC to have a nice day off and visit the Smithsonians only to pass the occupiers of McPherson Square.

Here are my takes:

1. Why are they occupying public parks?  I get that they are “building a community,” but it is a PUBLIC PARK!  Maybe I would like to take my dog for a walk, enjoy a lunch outside on this nice November day, throw the frisbee around…  What gives them the right to camp out on public property? 
2. They are protesting for what?  I have heard debt and the wealthy feeding off the poor.  I have heard unemployment, economic issues, drugs.  WHAT IS IS THAT THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR?
3. Every day people are joining this unorganized movement that is not only nationwide now, but global.  WHY ARE PEOPLE IN OTHER COUNTRIES INVOLVED!?  This is an American political protest, right?  I may be wrong because the goal of this is so unclear.  I am soo confused.
4. Occupiers are protesting debt, but are the hypocrites…  The homeless are the poorest of the poor.  Occupiers are fighting for their rights, but when the homeless come into the occupiers tents and steal their shit (because they left it in a public park while marching around protesting about 3 dozen different issues), they leave the movement and complain to media?  Wow.
5. Why are homless people being kicked off park benches for taking a nap when hundreds of people with homes are camping out for months straight?  What makes this right!?
6. Who is the leader?  Not one person or party has taken charge or ownership of this movement.
7. The only media I have seen is negative.  Rapings, drug use and who knows what else.  Is this good for the movement!?

I don’t want to seem like I am bashing; I am simply confused.  Through walking past the Baltimore and DC Occupy areas, I can see that there are dozens upon dozens of well educated people involved.  The uneducated are joining this movement just to be part of history.  Yes, sadly this will make history - even if it is unsuccessful. I think it is great that people are standing up for their rights and beliefs, but is this the right way?  

I think clear goals need to be set.  Camping out on public property is affecting the neighborhood in negative ways.  Neighboring people who pay for their homes do not feel comfortable walking through these public areas and the Occupy areas are attracting bums, thieves and drug attics.  I understand a lot of educated people are involved, but think about how this is affecting other communities outside of the parks…

Make clear goals, protest as needed daily.  Don’t Occupy.  If this was the case, I would even join in on some of the protested topics!  I just don’t want to be associated currently because I don’t believe in every last item being protested and the disorganization and whole occupying concept kills me.  Thankfully, it is for the most part a non-violent protest, aside from the crime within the communities caused by freeloaders who simply want food or a place to stay.

I really want to see Starkids live..

No particular production. Just concert style. They should come to Baltimore. Darren Criss’ presence would be awesome, but it isn’t necessary for an amazing concert.

If a Starkid reads this make it happen! Lol. I have been listening to Starkid song playlists through my work day on YouTube and want to experience a concert live!!
